FIVE YEAR INTEGRATED M.Sc.CHEMISTRY


About the programme

The five year Integrated M.Sc. Chemistry programme is being offered by the Department of Chemistry, GITAM Institute of Science, GITAM University from the academic year 2014-15. This innovative programme is being conducted for the benefit of the prospective students aiming to become Pharma/chemical industry experts. They will be trained from 10+2 level. In addition to free education, the students are also offered scholarship of Rs.50,000/- p.a. during entire course of five year study by the sponsor, the world renowned “Laurus Labs”.


The students will be awarded B.Sc. and M.Sc. (Chemistry) degrees after successful completion of five years and will be given preference for placement in the Laurus Labs.

The programme is spread over ten semesters. The students spend first seven semesters in GITAM University and the last three semesters in Laurus Labs. The students will also undertake project work in the tenth semester in one of the R & D wings of the Laurus Industry and submit the project report to the University in partial fulfilment of the requirements for the award of M.Sc. degree.

The programme integrates the combination of fundamental aspects of chemistry and applied aspects of analytical and organic chemistry required for the advanced pharmaceutical/chemical industries. The students also study the basic chemical engineering concepts, principles of management, components of business communication English, fundamentals of software and information technology. In addition to the above, the students will have the hands on training in the industrial environment during the last three semesters of this programme, with special emphasis on the topics relating to the essentials of design, safety, quality control, quality assurance, regulatory affairs and management.

The student of this programme will have a competitive advantage over other students in view of intensive sound and theoretical knowledge along with industry exposure.
